Makon Home is a sustainable home furnishings and decor brand based in Manipur and Assam. The aim of Makon Home is to celebrate traditional crafts, to promote the use of natural materials, and to preserve the age-old skills of North East India. The brand uplifts the socioeconomic condition of women by providing them with employment opportunities, fair wages, safe working conditions.
Makon Home’s products are crafted from Kouna Grass, Rattan, Cane, and Bamboo. Kouna Grass, also known as wild water reed, is a fast-growing aquatic plant found abundantly in the water bodies of Manipur, used for weaving mats, baskets, bags, and other handicrafts. In addition to this, rattan furniture pieces like chairs, tables, and room dividers, as well as bamboo products like lampshades and planters make up Makon Home’s offerings. Makon Home has been reinterpreting traditional handicrafts, furniture, and home decor with a contemporary lens, making them perfect for homes across India.
